How We're Designing Custom AI Companions

Nexani's planned custom companion flow starts with a fictional blank canvas. This preview explains the choices we are designing around appearance, personality, voice, and backstory. The final launch experience may differ.

1. Start with the vibe, not the checklist

Before you touch a single setting, picture how a conversation with them should feel. Warm and grounding? Playful and quick? Adventurous? That feeling is your north star. Everything else serves it.

2. Shape the personality

• Pick a few core traits and let them be dominant. A companion who is a little of everything is memorable as nothing.
• Give them real interests. Passions give a companion things to bring up, react to, and tease you about.
• Set their tone (flirty, steady, witty, soft) so their voice stays consistent from the first message on.

3. Choose a look and a voice

The planned creation flow pairs appearance choices with a fictional voice. Clear AI identity will remain part of the experience: a polished character should never be presented as a real person.

4. Let the relationship grow

A custom companion is intended to gain conversational continuity over time. People should remain deliberate about what they share and use the planned memory controls to manage retained context.
